Student Internship Program

Internships at the Millennium Gate Museum are available to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors who are interested in a career in the fields related to museums and non-profits. Our internships are structured through hands-on mentor-based learning that is designed to provide interns with real-world museum experience. Our internships are unpaid.

High School Internship

This internship program offers opportunities for students in grade 9, 10, 11 and 12. The program allows them to connect with arts, museum, and creative professionals as they develop professional skills, network, and gain work experience during the academic year or over the summer.

Internships for Undergraduate Students

Join a community of interns to gain professional skills and learn about museum practices. The Millennium Gate Museum has several department areas that host interns from a wide variety of academic backgrounds.

These internships are available to undergraduate students.

What internships are available?

  • Curatorial. Interns working with museum curator assist with permanent collection research and with research and planning for temporary exhibitions.
  • Marketing communication. Assist in marketing, media relations, and social media to create visibility for the museum, exhibitions, and programs.
  • Graphic design. Design materials for the museum’s newsletter, for educational programs, and more, focusing on both print and digital design.
  • Content creation. Including blog, emails, video and photos
  • Guest experience. Assist with patron registration, guided tours and gift shop transactions
  • Education and community engagement. Develop educational materials based on the collections and help plan and implement educational programs and events.
  • Events. Coordinate museum events including exhibition openings, donation ceremonies, meetings, donor cultivation events and facility rentals.

When are internships available?

Our internships are available year-round and are flexible.

What materials or programs will I need for my Internship?

Depending on your internship, you will need access to the following:

  • Smart Phone or table with a working camera
  • Notebook and pencils
  • Laptop with Microsoft Office
  • Access to Adobe Photoshop or similar graphic design software
